Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts (SSLA) is India’s first liberal arts college to offer a four-year full time degree: Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science (Liberal Arts) Honours with Research and Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science (Liberal Arts) Honours.

Established 15 years ago, SSLA offers a wide spectrum of 24 specialisations from diverse fields such as Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Media Studies, Business Studies and Performing Arts, giving the students the freedom to tailor their degree their own way. Centrally located in Pune, the Oxford of East, SSLA is anchored in the excellence and legacy of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

It closely mirrors international standards for Liberal Arts where students are offered a wide range of learning experiences through the Electives, Cores, Majors and Minors. The Electives and Cores offer an interdisciplinary base and the Major and Minor provide an in depth understanding of the disciplines. Liberal Arts at SSLA also aims to fulfil a niche gap in the industry by inculcating core transferable skills among its students that include analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, resilience and the capabilities to adapt to diverse environments. The guiding vision at SSLA is to foster an environment that encourages all its members to participate in the learning process. Innovative pedagogies, research, community outreach, experiential learning such as internships, field trips, industry visits and international exposure are strongly embedded in the programme . At SSLA, we aim to nurture students into sensitive, ethical and critically conscious citizens who will contribute responsibly to their communities and society.
