Inter-Collegiate Event (ICE) by Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts (SSLA), Pune, is the institute’s flagship annual inter-collegiate fest that brings together sports, culture, and student leadership on a large, city-wide platform. Conceived as a space where students from diverse institutions can interact, compete, and collaborate, ICE embodies Symbiosis’ motto Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam by transforming the campus into a vibrant meeting ground for colleges from across Pune, Maharashtra, and beyond. Over successive editions, it has grown from a promising new fest to a marquee student-led event with thousands of attendees and an expansive slate of activities.
ICE began in April 2023 as SSLA’s first formal inter-collegiate fest, hosted at the New Viman Nagar Campus on 28–29 April 2023. From its inception, the event was designed not just as entertainment but as a showcase of liberal arts values: interdisciplinarity, creativity, collaboration, and critical engagement through both sports and cultural formats. The Organising Committee (OC) articulated a clear aim—to build a lasting legacy of collegiate fests at SSLA while nurturing togetherness, passion, and collective effort within the student body.
ICE is structured as a two-day bonanza of sports and cultural competitions that invite participation from multiple colleges and universities. Sports line-ups have included futsal, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, tennis, gully cricket, chess, e-sports, pickleball, arm-wrestling, and Texas Hold’em, giving athletes and casual players alike a competitive yet friendly platform. On the cultural side, ICE has hosted group dance, solo singing, poetry, monologues, film-making, fashion shows, sports auctions, comedy, and more. Participants perform in both individual and team events, turning the campus into a continuous circuit of performances, debates, and matches.
From the first edition, which recorded over 600 participants and a large, enthusiastic audience, ICE has expanded rapidly in both scale and ambition. By the 2025 edition, the fest drew more than 300 participants across over 60 institutions for competitions alone, and over 4,000 attendees overall, supported by dozens of sponsors.
ICE is central to SSLA’s student culture, turning the campus into a festival site complete with food, merchandise, sponsor, and activity stalls curated by the Organising Committee. As the day-time competitions transition into evenings, cultural nights—such as stand-up comedy featuring performers like Madhur Virli and high-energy DJ sets—create a shared celebratory experience that extends beyond competition. For students, volunteers, and visitors, the fest becomes an immersive experience in community-building, event management, and creative expression, leaving behind “mementos” in SSLA’s institutional memory and setting benchmarks for future editions.
Memories were made and history was created as Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts took Pune back to the future with the third edition of its cherished annual inter-collegiate event, ICE by SSLA on the 21st and 22nd of March 2025 in Viman Nagar. A retro-futuristic themed extravaganza, ICE by SSLA was a vibrant celebration of the culture and creativity harboured within the walls of the SSLA institute, bringing together people from all walks of life and staying true to the Symbiosis motto, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
This year, ICE by SSLA featured over nine entertaining cultural events for Slam-Poetry, Comedy, Film-Making, Solo and Group Dancing, Solo Singing, Battle for Bands, MUN, Fashion, along with twelve electrifying sports events for Volleyball, Futsal, Tennis, Gully Cricket, Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess, E-Sports, Pickleball, Arm-Wrestling, Texas Hold-em and Badminton, which drew more than 300 participants from over 60 institutions. And that’s not all - as the sun set, ICE by SSLA turned it up a notch with two breath-taking cultural nights. I.C.E 2025’s first cultural night marked the inter-collegiate event’s first-ever Comic Night, featuring the hilarious nationwide sensation Madhur Virli, who undoubtedly left his audience in splits. The second cultural night, fix it Feelix with DJ Feelix, lit the dance floor on fire and brought a celebratory end to two exhilarating days of an unforgettable inter-collegiate event.
With its latest edition, I.C.E attracted more than 4000 attendees from all over Maharashtra, along with dozens of sponsors supporting the inter-collegiate event. Developing on the trailblazing successes of the previous iterations of I.C.E, this year’s edition boldly promised to make things even bigger and better, embracing the shimmering future of SSLA, while at the same time also celebrating its glowing past - and with the relentless efforts of over 180 Organizing Committee members, as well as the unwavering support of I.C.E’s faculty-in-charge Mr. Ranjeet Chavan, the SSLA Administrative staff and the SSLA Director Dr. Shweta Sinha Deshpande, this collective vision was successfully realized. The dedication and the hard work of everyone involved in the success of I.C.E 2025 sets a benchmark for excellence, one that future editions of ICE by SSLA will surely push forward and build upon.
